Sightlines

Where the firm thinks out loud.

Editorial writing, speaking, and original perspective from inside the work. A sightline is what you get when you stand somewhere higher than the noise — a clear view of where the field is actually going, not where the vendors say it’s going.

The Thesis

Technology averages. Leadership decides. Perspective differentiates.

Most of what gets published about AI and enterprise transformation is either vendor content, analyst speculation, or thought-leadership designed to sell something else. We write a different way. The pieces below come from inside the work — not from the seminar circuit, not from the press release pipeline. They’re the perspective of an operator who has made the calls, not a commentator describing them.

The goal is signal, not noise. Editorial, not promotional. Sharp where sharp is earned. Honest about what we don’t know. Useful to the kind of leader who reads carefully and has limited time.

The Publication

Beyond the Model.

A strategic field guide for leaders in an age of intelligent systems. Beyond the Model is the firm’s anchor written publication — essays, frameworks, and field reports for CIOs, COOs, Chief Strategy Officers, and Innovation Leaders. Published on Substack. Clear, practical insight on turning emerging technology into trusted, scalable capability — without hype, theater, or buzzwords.

Human × Machine
Applied leadership and AI — what changes when the work itself is restructured around intelligent systems.
Signal > Noise
Clarity and synthesis. Cutting through the consulting industry’s reflex to complicate.
Field Notes
Operator insights from inside enterprise transformation. The lessons that don’t make it into the case study.
Case Applications
Enterprise breakdowns — how specific firms have navigated specific moments, and what generalizes.

Speaking

Keynotes, panels, and conversations.

Cory speaks at industry events, executive roundtables, and on podcasts about AI strategy, governance, enterprise transformation, and what operator-led leadership actually requires. Topics include navigating AI as a CIO, building responsible AI operating models, the structural shifts AI is forcing on enterprise business models, and what 28 years of operator experience inside Fortune 500 environments suggests about how to lead through this moment.

Keynotes
Executive audiences. 30 to 60 minutes. Customized to the audience’s specific decision context.
Panels
Industry conferences and executive forums. Bringing an operator’s perspective into rooms typically dominated by analysts and vendors.
Podcasts
Long-form conversations on AI strategy, leadership, and enterprise transformation. Selective — only formats where the conversation goes somewhere.
Executive Briefings
Private sessions with leadership teams, often as a companion to working sessions like OBSOLESCENCE or ALTITUDE.

What We’re Working On

The questions in front of us right now.

A snapshot of the themes the firm is currently writing, thinking, and speaking about. Each of these is an open question, not a settled answer — the writing is part of how we work through them.

Start a Conversation

The right engagement begins with the right conversation.

Signal & Horizon takes on a small number of clients at any given time — by design.

No sales funnel. No pitch deck. Tell us what you're navigating and we'll tell you honestly whether and how we can help.

No sales funnel. No automated follow-up sequence. A real conversation.
