The Network

Senior people, brought in when the work calls for them.

Every Signal & Horizon engagement is led by its founder, Cory Smith. When a problem reaches into territory that deserves a specialist, he brings in practitioners he trusts and has worked alongside. No junior teams. No bench waiting to be staffed.

How it works

01

One lead, start to finish

Cory scopes, leads and stays accountable for every engagement. Specialists add depth. They don't replace the person you hired.

02

Named, not staffed

If someone from the network joins your engagement, you'll know who, why and for which part of the work before it starts. Nobody appears on the team you haven't met.

03

Brought in for a reason

Most engagements never need anyone else. The network exists for the moments a question turns on deep specialty, not to make the room look bigger.

The practitioners

Keith Reynolds

Data sovereignty & private AI infrastructure

Keith Reynolds

Founder & CEO, SovereignServer.ai

Keith builds The Keep, a company-owned intelligence hub that puts an organization's data, workflows, AI agents and institutional knowledge under its own control rather than a vendor's. He has spent three decades founding and building companies, starting in 1995 with one of the early firms helping businesses bring the internet into their marketing. Along the way he launched eleven startups, raised capital for two of his own, and worked with clients including Apple, AT&T, IBM, Kodak and Verizon.

Brought in when the real question is who owns the data, the models and the infrastructure, especially in regulated or sensitive environments where handing it all to a platform isn't an option.

Randy Stephens

Experience strategy & applied research

Randy Stephens

Experience strategist, randystephens.co

Randy works before the build, framing what a business is actually trying to do and testing the assumptions underneath it. For six years he led innovation strategy and experience work in Aflac's innovation lab, where he contributed to the Virtual Enrollment transformation that earned a CIO 100 Award and was projected at more than $50M in impact. Before that he led UX and digital experience work at Masterworks, Grizzard Communications and BKV, for clients including AT&T, The Home Depot and Equifax.

Brought in when the answer depends on how customers, agents or employees will actually behave, and a strategy needs research behind it before money gets committed.

Paula Schwartz

Transformation readiness & strategic change leadership

Paula Schwartz

Founder, TRX Change

Paula helps organizations determine whether they can successfully execute the transformations they're planning, before they commit significant resources. With 20 years of experience in organizational change and technology transformation, she developed the SCALE Framework for Enterprise Readiness and authored Enterprise Readiness: What It Takes for Strategy to Survive Culture. Her work focuses on the organizational structures, processes, leadership alignment and decision-making capabilities that determine whether strategic investments deliver measurable results.

Brought in when the strategy is sound, but the organization may not be ready to execute it. Paula identifies the structural and operational conditions that could prevent a transformation from delivering its intended outcomes.

Why it's built this way

Large firms sell a senior partner and deliver a junior team. Signal & Horizon is built the other way around: the person who scopes the work does the work, and anyone else in the room has earned their place there over years, not been assigned to it last week.
